Overview
The Occult Arcane build takes a different approach to bleed than the Rivers of Blood build. Instead of relying on a single weapon art, this build uses Occult affinity to add Arcane scaling to any weapon while preserving its innate bleed buildup. This means your bleed buildup scales with your ARC stat, making status procs trigger faster and faster as you level.
The star of this build is Mohgwyn's Sacred Spear, obtained from the Remembrance of the Blood Lord. Its weapon art Bloodboon Ritual is a massive AoE that applies bleed in a huge area, making it one of the best farming weapons and crowd-clearing tools in the game. For single-target encounters, an Uchigatana with Occult affinity provides fast, reliable bleed application with solid physical damage.
Rated Intermediate because understanding how Occult affinity works with status effects requires some game knowledge. You need to know which weapons have innate bleed to maximize the build. However, once set up correctly, it is devastatingly effective against almost everything in the game.

Equipment
Weapons
Mohgwyn's Sacred Spear — Great Spear with innate bleed and ARC scaling. Bloodboon Ritual weapon art is incredible AoE. Requires Mohg's Remembrance.
Uchigatana (Occult affinity) — Fast katana with innate bleed. Occult affinity adds ARC scaling while keeping bleed buildup. Your main single-target weapon.
Armor
Black Knife Set — Medium weight armor with excellent all-around stats and the bonus of muffled footsteps. Fits the assassin aesthetic of the Arcane build.
Talismans
Lord of Blood's Exultation — 20% attack boost when bleed procs nearby. Core talisman for any bleed build.
Rotten Winged Sword Insignia — Successive hit damage boost. Pairs perfectly with fast Uchigatana attacks.
Millicent's Prosthesis — +5 DEX and successive hit damage. Stacks with Rotten Winged.
Erdtree's Favor — HP, stamina, equip load. Rounds out survivability.
Flask Setup
12 Crimson, 2 Cerulean. Some FP needed for Bloodboon Ritual and Occult weapon arts.
Progression Tips
Early Game (SL 1-50): Start Bandit for the highest base ARC. Grab Reduvia from the invader at Murkwater Cave immediately — it scales with ARC and has incredible bleed. Use it through early game. Push ARC to 30 and Vigor to 25.
Mid Game (SL 50-80): Get an Uchigatana and apply Occult affinity once available. Reach the Mohgwyn Palace area via the Pureblood Knight's Medal (Varre's questline) or the Consecrated Snowfield. Push ARC to 50.
Late Game (SL 80+): Defeat Mohg, Lord of Blood for Mohgwyn's Sacred Spear. Push ARC to 65 for maximum status buildup scaling. The full build with both weapons gives you incredible flexibility between AoE and single-target.
Alternative Options
Eleonora's Poleblade — Twinblade with built-in bleed and ARC scaling. Faster attacks than the spear, with a flashy weapon art.
Reduvia — Your early-game weapon can remain viable as a secondary. The ranged blood blade weapon art is useful for kiting.
Shard of Alexander — 15% weapon art damage. Excellent if you use Bloodboon Ritual frequently.
