Overview
The Dual Katana DEX build is all about speed and relentless aggression. By powerstancing two katanas, you unlock a blistering L1 moveset that hits twice per swing, shredding enemy HP with rapid slashes. TheUchigatana is your early-game workhorse and the Hand of Malenia is the ultimate endgame reward, featuring the iconic Waterfowl Dance weapon art.
Pure DEX builds reward precise, aggressive play. You deal damage through volume — many fast hits rather than single big swings. This means you generate status effects like bleed quickly, and successive-hit talismans like Rotten Winged Sword Insignia ramp up to full power almost instantly. At 80 DEX, your Keen-affinity weapons reach their maximum scaling potential.
Rated Advanced because powerstancing requires good stamina management, and Hand of Malenia requires defeating Malenia — one of the hardest bosses in the game. However, the Uchigatana alone is viable through the entire game, so you can enjoy the core playstyle while working toward the endgame weapon.

Nagakiba — Alternative to Uchigatana with significantly longer reach. Keen affinity for DEX scaling. Found from Yura's questline.
Armor

Rotten Winged Sword Insignia — Massive attack boost on successive hits. Ramps up instantly with dual katana L1 attacks.
Winged Sword Insignia — Additional successive hit damage. Stacks with Rotten variant.
Shard of Alexander — 15% weapon art damage for Waterfowl Dance.

Progression Tips
Early Game (SL 1-50): Start Samurai for the Uchigatana. You can obtain a second Uchigatana from the Deathtouched Catacombs in Limgrave to start powerstancing immediately. Apply Keen affinity. Push DEX to 35 and Vigor to 25.
Mid Game (SL 50-80): Optionally swap to Nagakiba from Yura's questline for longer reach. Push DEX to 60 and Vigor to 40. Start collecting successive-hit talismans.
Late Game (SL 80+): Defeat Malenia for Hand of Malenia. This is the hardest boss fight in the game, but the reward is worth it. Push DEX to 80 for maximum scaling. The full talisman setup makes Waterfowl Dance absolutely devastating.
Alternative Options
Bloodhound's Fang — Curved Greatsword with excellent DEX scaling and a built-in dodge on its weapon art. Great for players who want heavier hits.
Bolt of Gransax — DEX-scaling spear with an incredible ranged lightning weapon art. Good secondary weapon for ranged needs.
Erdtree's Favor — If you prefer more survivability, replace Winged Sword Insignia for the HP, stamina, and equip load boost.
