Overview

The Colossal Strength build is the quintessential "bonk" build — you wield the biggest weapons in the game and flatten everything in your path. This build revolves around the Giant-Crusher (or the Greatsword) with pure Strength investment, maximizing stagger damage and hyper armor during attacks.

Colossal weapons deal enormous damage per hit and their jump attacks are among the most efficient moves in Elden Ring. A single jumping heavy attack can stagger most enemies, and bosses will be stance-broken in just a few hits, opening them up for devastating critical attacks. Combined with heavy armor like the Bull-Goat Set, you can trade hits with enemies and come out ahead thanks to your massive poise.

Despite wielding slow weapons, this build is surprisingly beginner-friendly. You don't need complex combos — just jump attack, roll, repeat. The high Vigor and heavy armor provide a generous margin of error, and the raw damage output means fights end quickly.

Equipment

Weapons

Giant-Crusher — Highest Strength scaling colossal weapon. S-scaling in STR when upgraded with Heavy affinity. Incredible stagger damage.

Greatsword — The iconic Colossal Sword with excellent reach and a versatile moveset. Heavy affinity for pure STR scaling.

Armor

Bull-Goat Set — The highest poise armor in the game. You will trade through almost every attack without staggering. Obtained from Patches' questline in the Mountaintops.

Talismans

Erdtree's Favor — Boosts HP, stamina, and equip load. Essential for heavy builds.

Great-Jar's Arsenal — Massive equip load boost to wear Bull-Goat set comfortably.

Shard of Alexander — 15% weapon art damage boost.

Radagon's Soreseal — +5 to VIG, END, STR, DEX. The stat boost outweighs the defense reduction at lower levels.

Flask Setup

13 Crimson, 1 Cerulean. Pure melee build with minimal FP needs. Only use Cerulean for occasional weapon art usage.

Progression Tips

Early Game (SL 1-50): Start Hero for the highest base STR. Grab the Greatsword from a chest in Caelid (accessible early via the trapped chest in Dragon-Burnt Ruins). Apply Heavy affinity immediately. Focus Vigor to 30, then STR.

Mid Game (SL 50-80): Get Radagon's Soreseal from Fort Faroth. Push STR toward 60. Start investing in Endurance for heavier armor. The Greatsword jumping R2 is your bread and butter.

Late Game (SL 80+): Obtain Giant-Crusher from a chest on a siege tower in the Outer Wall. Complete Patches' questline for Bull-Goat Set. Push STR to 80 for maximum scaling.

Alternative Options

Ruins Greatsword — Colossal Sword with a gravity-based weapon art. Excellent for crowd control and has innate magic damage.

Starscourge Greatsword — Radahn's iconic dual greatswords. The weapon art pulls enemies in and slams them for massive AoE damage.

Bull-Goat's Talisman — Increases poise by 33%. Combine with Bull-Goat armor for maximum hyper armor if you want to replace Radagon's Soreseal later.
